I’ve been asked a couple of times how to go about clearing deleted messages from the Inbox of our Webmail client, or how to empty the Trash folder.  Although it’s easy to do, I agree it’s not completely intuitive.

In the Webmail interface, look at the lower-left corner of the window.  You should find the word “Folder:” followed by two buttons.  The left-hand one is the “Compact” button, which will clear out and remove all the messages that have been marked as “deleted” from the current folder.

The right-hand one is the “Empty” button.  It’s usually grayed out unless you are viewing the contents of the Trash folder.  So to empty the Trash folder, just select it, then click on the “Empty” button.  You will be prompted to confirm that you really want to empty the folder, just click “Okay” and Webmail will empty the Trash.
